WE EDUCATE PEOPLE

Karen

"I lost my vision in 1996 to Shingles so I decided to face my biggest fear - heights.  I figured since I couldn't see how high I was there was nothing holding me back.  I went zip lining and it was the most exhilarating thing I have ever done.  And the only reason I did it was because of my vision loss.  I have always been an energetic busy person, but when I lost my sight I was anxious.  My eye doctor suggested I reach out to BCABVI to see what supports and options they had for me.  I joined a support group and I have enjoyed every second of it.  I thought I knew everything about blindness but I found out I knew nothing.  BCABVI taught me a lot about who I am and has given me the opportunity to learn and grow.  The agency is a wonderful place with phenomenal staff."
