Carol
"I was born with Nystagmus which is when the eye makes uncontrolled movements causing low vision. As a child it was hard for me to participate like the other kids because there was not much assistive technology or accessible features like there is today. I was quiet, timid, and very introverted before coming to the center, but now I am confident and outgoing. The Low Vision Clinic taught me how to live with my diagnoses which increased my self-esteem tremendously. I speak to students at assemblies about my experiences as a child and teach them about technology available to people who are blind or visually impaired. I am President of the BCABVI Lions Club, which raises money to support local charities. I never would have done this before coming to the center. BCABVI has enriched my life in many ways."
